Dear CCU-CSC Affiliates,
Following the untimely passing of our dear friend, Chris McCann, the CCU-CSC aims to fill the volunteer position of CCU-CSC Vice-President at the Oct. 6, 2024 NEB meeting in Toronto, ON.
For those who are unable to attend in person and wish to submit a nomination in advance of the meeting, please use the attached nomination form. Send the completed, signed form to the attention of Gregory Ball (president@ccu-csc-.ca) and Dawn Burns (secretary@ccu-csc.ca) on or before the posted deadline of Friday, October 4, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. EST. Alternatively, a nomination can be made from the floor.

Nominees must be present to accept the nomination, unless a written acceptance has been received by the Chair prior to the meeting. Self nominations will also be accepted.
Conservatively, the time commitment for this volunteer position is approximately 85 hours per year attending monthly officers’ meetings (remote), a yearly planning session, e-mail correspondence, travel/ three NEB meetings within Canada, biennial convention, in-person meetings with affiliates, etc. Travel expenses, per diem, and legitimate expenses will normally be paid by the CCU-CSC, subject to review/approval by the CCU-CSC treasurer and trustees.

ARTICLE V (i) TABLE OFFICERS
2. The President shall have the general management and direction subject to the authority of the Executive Board, of the business and affairs of the organization. The President shall, when present, preside over all meetings of the Convention and Executive Board. The President shall be responsible for the due and proper administration of the constitution and shall submit regular and timely reports to the Executive Board. The President shall be a signing officer and ex-officio member of all committees and subordinate bodies of the organization.
3. The Vice-President shall assist the President in the performance of his or her duties and shall act as presiding officer in the absence of the President.
7. Any candidate running for office must be a member in good standing of an affiliated union that is not currently under suspension.
9. Nominations of candidates for national office shall be made on the floor of the Convention and acceptance by the candidates may be in person or by written consent submitted to the Chair at the time of nominations.
11. In the event of death, recall or resignation of the President, the balance of the term of office shall be filled by the Vice-President. If an office of Trustee or Officer becomes vacant, the CCU Executive Board members/delegates will be asked to nominate a replacement. The Executive Board will elect a replacement for the period up to the end of the next regular Convention by majority vote of all its members.
Please note the deadline date of Friday, October 4th, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. EST to submit the completed nomination form. The nomination form must be signed by both the nominator and the nominee.
