In June 2022, the Confederation of Canadian Unions held its Labour School in Montreal, Quebec on the issues of mental health and well-being. Speakers included:
1. Steve Lurie recently retired as the Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association Toronto Branch, a post he held since 1979. Steve has written and lectured extensively on mental health policy issues.
2. Jennifer Chambers is Executive Director and founder of the Empowerment Council, Systemic Advocates in Addictions and Mental Health, and is currently Co-Chair of the Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Panel to the Toronto Police Services Board.
3. Uppala Chandrasekera, MSW, RSW, is a Social Worker with over 20 years of work experience in the health sector. She is also an Assistant Professor (Status Only) at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto.
